The ashram is surrounded by the scenic Vindhya forests and features a Shri Ram Temple, a sacred kund (natural water pond), meditation areas, and peaceful walking trails. A unique natural spring continuously feeds the kund from below the ground, and devotees consider its water highly sacred. A popular local belief says, "Sau Baar Ganga, Ek Baar Sarbhanga," meaning that taking a holy dip at this sacred kund is believed to bestow spiritual merit equal to bathing many times in the River Ganga.
Sharbhang Ashram also marks an important stage in Lord Rama's journey through the forests of Chitrakoot. After leaving Atri and Anusuya Ashram, Lord Rama travelled through Viradh Kund before reaching Sharbhang Ashram, where he received guidance from the sage. How to Reach Sharbhang Ashram, Chitrakoot
By Road
Sharbhang Ashram is located about 58 km from Chitrakoot and approximately 55 km from Satna Junction. The ashram is situated in the forest area near Piparawan Village, Majhgawan (Satna District, Madhya Pradesh). The route is accessible by road, but there is no direct public transport to the ashram. Hiring a private taxi or travelling by your own vehicle is the most convenient option.
Last 2 km Route
After reaching the main village road near Piparawan, visitors need to travel approximately 2 km inside the forest to reach the ashram. This stretch is on an internal forest road, where regular public transport is generally not available. It is advisable to continue in the same vehicle until the ashram.

The nearest railway stations are:
Satna Junction – approximately 55 km
Chitrakoot Dham Karwi Railway Station – approximately 58 km
Chitahra Railway Station – about 13 km from the ashram, but with limited train connectivity.
From any of these railway stations, visitors should hire a taxi or private vehicle to reach the ashram.
By Bus
Regular buses are available up to Majhgawan from Satna and nearby towns. However, there is no verified regular bus service directly to Sharbhang Ashram. This place is quite relatable and similar as shown in the Ramayan by Ramanand Sagar. It was very overwhelming for me to see this aashram and rethink Ramayan again and imagine the path out lord would have travelled.
Very peaceful environment in the aashram. There is kund inside the aashram where water was warm even in 11ยฐ temprature outside which was surprising.
